Corrosion Resistance

  • Chromium Content: The corrosion resistance of our metal flexible hose primarily depends on its chromium content. When the chromium level reaches 10.5%, there’s a significant increase in atmospheric corrosion resistance. Higher chromium content continues to improve corrosion resistance, though the increment is less pronounced.
  • Alloying with Chromium: Alloying steel with chromium alters the surface oxide, forming a protective layer similar to pure chromium metal.
  • Protective Oxide Layer: This thin, adherent chromium-rich oxide layer shields the surface, preventing further oxidation.
  • Self-Repairing Feature: The natural luster of stainless steel is visible through this layer. If damaged, the exposed steel surface interacts with the atmosphere to self-repair, reforming the “passive film” and maintaining protection.

Design Specifications:

  1. Recommended Expansion Per Corrugation:
    • Full-Height Type: ±24mm
    • Half-Height Type: ±12mm
  2. Dust Shields:
    • For ducts with minimal dust, dust shields may not be necessary. However, for dustier flue applications, using dust shields is recommended.
  3. Corrugation Considerations:
    • To reduce the number of corrugations, consider a 50% cold drawing process.
  4. Standard Application Sizes:
    • Standard Half-Height Metal Hose: Ideal for sections with an area smaller than 4.6 square meters and dimensions where one side is less than 1.5m but more than 0.6mm.
    • Standard Full-Height Metal Hose: Suitable for all types of smoke and air ducts.
