Overview of Deodorization Process

Vacuum Pump and Fatty Acid Collector Design

To achieve the highest yields and maintain an eco-friendly operation, our process incorporates cutting-edge technologies:

  • Energy-Efficient Vacuum Pump:
    • Utilizing a vacuum pumps group that is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
    • Eliminating wastewater discharge and steam consumption, aligning with our commitment to sustainability.
  • Fatty Acid Collector:
    • Specifically designed to enhance the capture of fatty acids, minimizing their entry into the vacuum pump system.
    • Effectively reducing the impact of fatty acids on the overall deodorization process.

Deodorization (Deacidification) Stage

This stage, tailored for processing deep-sea fish oil, employs a gas-stripping deacidification process.

Key features and benefits include:

  • Negative Pressure Acid Stripping Process:
    • Relying on negative pressure to induce the evaporation of free fatty acids, effectively removing them from the oil.
    • Simultaneously eliminating odor compounds, raising the smoke point of the oil, and enhancing the flavor of the fish oil.
  • Improvements in Stability and Quality:
    • The deacidification process not only removes free fatty acids and odorous substances but also addresses peroxides, their decomposition products, thermosensitive pigments, and volatile decomposition products from protein in deteriorated oil materials.
    • Enhances oil stability, color, and overall quality, ensuring the final product meets safety standards.

Steam Distillation (Vapor Stripping)

The core mechanism of our deodorization process involves steam distillation, also known as vapor stripping:

  • Differential Volatility of Odor Compounds:
    • Exploiting the difference in volatility between odor compounds and triglycerides in oil.
    • Steam vapor passes through the oil, saturating with volatile odor compounds, which are then released based on their vapor pressure ratios.
  • Efficient Odor Removal:
    • Achieves thorough removal of odorous components, resulting in fish oil that meets safety standards and consumer preferences.
    • The process ensures that the odor removal aligns with safety parameters.

Our commitment is not just to meet industry standards but to surpass them, providing you with a fish oil deacidification solution that excels in efficiency, environmental responsibility, and end-product quality.

Process Flow and Characteristics of Marine Fish Oil Deodorization

Basic Process Flow:

  1. Oil Transfer and Heating:
    • Clear oil is extracted using a transfer pump and adjusted with a mass flow meter.
    • Enters the heater to reach approximately 120-130°C before entering the vacuum drying deaerator.
  2. Vacuum Drying Deaerator:
    • Residual moisture and air are removed from the oil inside the deaerator.
    • Extracted by a shielded pump and undergoes heat exchange with deodorized oil from the deodorization tower through an oil-oil heat exchanger.
  3. Heating to Deacidification Tower:
    • Further heating to 200–260°C (specific temperature determined by oil quality) using a thermal oil heater.
    • Enters the deacidification (deodorization) tower.
  4. Deacidification Process in Tower:
    • Under a vacuum working in the deodorization tower, undergoes approximately certain period of vacuum deacidification.
    • Deodorized oil at the bottom of the tower is extracted by a shielded pump.
  5. Oil-Oil Heat Exchange:
    • Heat exchange with clear oil through an oil-oil heat exchanger.
  6. Cooling and Filtration:
    • Cooled to below 80°C through a water cooler, then directed to a polishing filter.
    • Further cooled to around 45°C through a cooler before entering the deacidification and deodorization oil tank.

Process Characteristics

Design and Equipment Configuration

  • High-Quality Deodorization:
    • The process design and equipment configuration meet the requirements for producing high-quality deodorized fish oil.
    • The production line is capable of producing fish oil or other plant oils that comply with national hygiene standards.

Importance of Deacidification (Deodorization)

  • Critical Refining Stage:
    • Deacidification (deodorization) is a crucial step in oil refining, directly impacting the quality indicators such as aroma, smoke point, free fatty acid content, and color of the finished oil.
    • Our YXT50-80 combination continuous de(acid)odorization tower is designed for physical deacidification tailored to fish oil, achieving capacities ranging from 10 to 300 tons/day in conventional refining production.

Energy-Efficient Design

  • Combination Tower Design:
    • The combined tower facilitates physical deacidification, optimizing production at high vacuum and steam agitation.
    • Minimizes oil residence time at high temperatures, reducing energy consumption.
    • Prevents localized overheating during de(acid)odorization, minimizing trans fatty acid content, improving oil quality, and enhancing taste.

Material Selection

  • Quality Materials:
    • Tower filling adopts SUS316L corrugated perforated plate filling, and other materials in contact with oil are SUS304.
    • Connection pipes, valves, and equipment in the deodorization section are all made of high-quality stainless steel (SUS304).

Efficient Fatty Acid Capture

  • High-Efficiency Fatty Acid Collector:
    • Utilizes a stainless steel perforated plate filling for efficient fatty acid capture, ensuring effective recovery.
    • Achieves heat exchange between cold and hot oil, promoting energy efficiency.
